VENUS seminars

2006 - 2007

Introduction and Summary

The VENUS Seminars want to give the opportunity to participate in seminars taught by some of the world’s most famous experts. Theme for the 2006-2007 seminars is “Global Issues for the European Citizen.” Locations throughout Europe are connected to each other and to an international speaker through videoconferencing. At each location, there is a local expert and a debate in the local language.

Furthermore the lectures can also be viewed from home through streaming.  A chat function is foreseen in order to give people at home the chance to participate in the discussion after the lecture.

How it works

The Seminars are delivered in person by the speaker at one location and broadcasted to all other locations through videoconferencing and through this website by live streaming.

Video-conference

Videoconferencing is a telecommunication technology which allows several locations to be in live audio and visual contact with each other.  In the VENUS seminars about 10 universities are connected with the location of the speaker through video-conference technology.

Live stream

For people who cannot come to any of the video-conferencing locations, they can watch the lecture through streaming technology on the internet from home, anywhere in the world.

Streaming means that the lectures are broadcast live on the website. Through a special chat function, participants can ask the speaker questions

Relation with VideoAktiv

ATiT (partner in VideoAktiv)  is one of the partners in the VENUS seminars.  Being responsible for the technology, it allows ATiT to integrate the knowledge and experience gained through these seminars in the VideoAktiv workshops and handbook.
