Virtual workshop ATiT

Start the virtual workshop

Rationale and approach

The ATiT virtual workshop reflects the real life workshop as much as possible but leaves room for flexible individual access to the content and supportive resources.  Participants normally start with module 1 and finish with module 10.  However there is always the possibility of moving from one module to another in a different order, where for example certain modules are familiar to the participants.  All pages can be viewed at any time of the workshop.

We chose for this linear approach because it follows closely the structure of the real life workshops.  This way, teachers participating in a real face-to-face workshop can use the virtual workshop as a handbook in which they can easily follow the content and which they can use to revisit the content afterwards.  For those people who have not been able to participate in a real life workshop, this also appears to be the most effective approach in order to get all the information they need or require by following the workshop from start till end.  Participants who already have knowledge about certain aspects of the content of this module, can easily move from one section to another and only use the parts they need for their purpose.

The following modules are included

1. Intro – What are the relevant materials for producing an audio-visual production?

2. Streaming – What is this and how can we use this?

3. Recordings – How to prepare and how to start

4. Capture – How to capture the recordings into the editing programme?

5. Edit – How to edit the recorded material?

6. Publish – How to publish a movie?

7. Exercises – Some exercises to put the theory into practice.

8. Showtime – Useful examples and templates.

9. Project plans – Examples for some courses with video materials about different topics.

The information provided on the pages is illustrated as much as possible with audio and visual material.  Pictures, screenshots, screenshot movies, animated movies, sound recordings, talking head movies, illustrations and graphics are all included on the relevant pages.

The virtual workshop also offers a wide range of ready-to-use materials for constructing an interesting audio-visual resource to use in education.  The workshop also contains background information and concrete suggestions for practical applications and diverse issues. .

One page is reserved for putting sample movies, i.e. movies that have been made by teachers themselves during the real workshops

The workshop language is Dutch, a English version is planned.
