Using video in "Calculus Course" at the Engineering School of Bilbao

The professor uses the computer as fundamental teaching tool, and the video lecture is created enhancing the conceptual and graphic aspects of the lecture topics.
The contents are created at the professors office using Camtasia software and a microphone. Also a special software has used to create the 3D and 2D figures.
All the multimedia contents are intregated in the personal teacher's web.
Learning Objectives and learning methods
- Complement the face to face lecture
- Study in depth the gradient concept
- Use of graphic tools to complement the learning process
A series of assessments is proposed to be done after the face to face lecture. Also the material of previous exams is provided to students, and they solve them as homework assignment.
Motivation and Creativity
The video is a fundamental complement of the face to face lecture in the classroom. The face to face lecture provides the explanation using a very symbolic formulation and theory, and the video lecture is created enhancing the conceptual and graphic aspects of the topics. The students are encouraged to view the video lecture before and after the face to face explanation. Also this resource is used to complement and study in depth some explanation of the face to face lecture.
Relation with VideoAktiv
The case study is a result of the participation of its creator in one of the four F2F workshop offered by Grupo Multimedia of EHU. After the F2F workshop, one on one meetings were held with the creator of the case study in order address technical and pedagogical aspects.
