Come and see our workshops!

For the last two years, we have organised 20 live workshops for teaching and support staff in HE. These were developed collaboratively in EN language and co-delivered locally in the national languages (ES, FR, NL).

The coming months, there will be more workshops. For details and data and places, look at the time tables given in the subpages for each country in the menu at the left.

Each workshop lasted one or two days (a total of 8-12 hours) and accommodated at least 15 participants. Click here for a short impression of one of the workshops. This requires the Real Player to be installed.

The initial workshops are aimed at the beginner or little experienced practitioner who is enthusiastic about using digital video and sound for teaching. The workshops introduce the basics of video and audio creation, streamed and other (e.g. DVD, CD-Rom) delivery for educational purposes. The aim is to support the participant to acquire the basic skills, subject jargon and process understanding to be able to initiate their own video and audio projects We are not aiming to train academic staff to become audiovisual professionals but to give them an insight into the practices of production to enable them to design course materials making the best possible use of these technologies.

Themes include: educational value; introduction to existing local and international media collections and archives; technology for developing resources (e.g. shooting, digitising); reflective practice (combining educational needs and technical aspects); accessibility requirements for the sensory impaired; legal, ethical and copyright issues. The emphasis will be in designing learning events that can be supported by web-based video and audio material.
